About Us

Youth As Resources (YAR) exists to develop leadership
and self-empowerment opportunities for youth in Wayne County

History

Youth As Resources began in 1986 as an initiative of the National Crime Prevention Council. In the spring of 1998, as a project of youth involved in the county youth leadership program, Youth As Resources of Wayne County was formed.

Since its inception, Youth As Resources of Wayne County has invested over $40,600 in 98 youth projects. Youth-directed projects have involved 2,069 youth volunteers delivering over 20,300 hours of service. Adults working with youth have volunteered 5,502 hours. Over 91,340 throughout Wayne County have benefited from youth projects.

Today

Youth throughout Wayne County continue to play a major role in YAR by serving as board officers and committee co-chairs and are actively involved in all areas of board governance. The host agency for YAR is Centerstone of Indiana, Center of Behavioral Health. As a 501C, all volunteer group, we accept donations/sponsorship and have fund raising activities.
